The Tobacco Use Survey for Adults in Jordan (GATS) will be instrumental in establishing a national standard for systematic monitoring of tobacco use among adults (including smoking, secondhand smoke, and smokeless tobacco), as well as tracking key indicators for tobacco control. This survey will also highlight statistics related to tobacco use, smoking cessation, secondhand smoke, tobacco industry economics, the impact of media on smoking habits, and public knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions regarding smoking.

The Jordanian Adult Tobacco Survey (JATS) will be a national survey focusing on statistical analysis of smoking practices and the surrounding community norms throughout the country. This analysis will aid in the development, implementation, and evaluation of tobacco control programs, helping Jordan meet its obligations under the World Health Organization’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control by providing comparable data within the international community.

The study will be conducted across all governorates of the kingdom with a sample size of 8,000 respondents from various nationalities, aged 15-79 years.
